Greae Phio DT-G d11-1570

The Greae Phio DT-G d11-1570 system is located in the Norma Arm region, 16,733.77 LYs from Sol.
It is the 25th survey candidate system in the original Canonn Challenge route, and was visited on day 33 of the Chronicles Expedition.
Expedition objective: scan and catalogue Cymatilis Reel Mollusc

    EXPEDITION ALERT

The expedition system objective of locating the Cymatilis Reel Mollusc was not met, despite an extensive and prolonged search.  Instead the Lindigoticum Reel Mollusc was encountered and appropriately catalogued. The fate of the Cymatilis Reel Mollusc is unknown at this time and, without a sensor array deployed in the system from the time of the original Canonn Research Codex entry, the true reason for it’s absence will remain sadly undetermined.  Instead we can only speculate as to the reason the original Notable Stellar Phenomenon is no longer available in system:

  • The Cymatilis Reel Mollusc is a migratory species
  • The Lindigoticum Reel Mollusc is an invasive species
  • The Cymatilis Reel Mollusc was eradicated by a pathogen to which the Lindigoticum Reel Mollusc is immune

The Reel Mollusc is a non-sapient, spacefaring creature that is aptly named due their resemblance to reels or spools, are protected by husks that reportedly shield them from radiation. The mollusc appears to have little to no desire to move unless forced to do so as a result of being struck by another object.  The Lindigoticum variant of the Reel Mollusc has a dark green exterior.

During the observation period the Reel Mollusc was noted emitting lime green / yellow particles and energy flashes.  The particles appear to originate from the central core of the reel.  The energy flashes jump across the gap between the two reels.  The frequency and intensity of these energy emissions do not appear to be related with the proximity of a ship to the mollusc.

During the survey of the system these other features were observed.
